Family Photographer in Westfield, Indiana

Family photography in Westfield, finished the way it should be: as portraits on your walls, not files on a phone.

I photograph families at Grand Junction Plaza, along the trails at Asa Bales and Cool Creek, at your home, or in the studio fifteen minutes away. Then I design the artwork for your rooms and place it on your walls myself. Everything from the first conversation to installation is taken care of.

Schedule a Consultation

Consultations are complimentary and pressure-free.

How a Westfield family session works

You won’t be handed a gallery link and left to figure it out. Every commission follows the same four steps, and I’m with you through all of them.

1) A consultation in your home

We meet at your house, talk about who belongs in the portrait and how your family actually is together, and look at the walls where the finished work will live. I photograph those walls so that at your reveal you see your designs on your own rooms. Wardrobe gets settled from your closet: here’s how we plan what to wear.

2) Your session

Downtown at Grand Junction Plaza, on the wooded trails at Cool Creek, in your backyard, or in the studio. I direct the whole time, where to stand, what to do with your hands, when to stop looking at the camera and look at each other, so no one has to know how to pose. We make the classic family portrait, the kids on their own and together, and one of just the two of you.

3) Your reveal, within five business days

You see the finished portraits in person, then your wall designs to scale on photographs of your rooms, and choose what comes home. Nothing is decided by email. What the reveal appointment is like.

4) Placed on your wall

I deliver and install every piece, level and at the right height, guaranteed for life. You don’t measure anything.

Family photography in Westfield: where we photograph

Westfield has more good light than most families realize. These are the places I come back to:

  • Grand Junction Plaza: the boardwalk along the creek and the wood-and-concrete amphitheater give clean, modern lines with water and evening light. In winter the plaza’s ice rink becomes a holiday backdrop of its own.
  • Asa Bales Park: thirteen acres downtown with paved trails along the creek. Easy for little legs, and quiet on a weeknight.
  • Cool Creek Park: four miles of wooded trails at 151st Street, on the Westfield and Carmel line, for families who want tall trees and soft shade.
  • Grand Park: for the families who spend every Saturday there. If your kids play travel soccer or baseball, we can make portraits where they actually play.
  • Your home or property: the backyard they’re growing up in, the front porch, family land. Some of the most meaningful family portraits happen in the places that already hold your story. We decide together at the consultation, with no extra fee.
  • The studio: about fifteen minutes from downtown Westfield, for polished, timeless portraits. Most families choose the studio plus one outdoor location, and there is no charge for additional locations.

More ideas, including Carmel favorites just south of the line: the best locations for family photos.

For a house that’s still filling its walls

Many of the Westfield families I work with live in homes they haven’t finished decorating: a two-story entry, a long wall over the sectional, a staircase with nothing on it yet. That’s exactly where portraits belong, and it’s why I design the artwork for the room instead of handing you files and wishing you luck. Digital files come with every portrait, but they’re for sharing; the finished piece is for living with. Why wall art outlasts files.

Your investment

Family sessions are $1,490, and $1,000 of that is a credit toward your portraits, so most of it comes straight back to you in finished work. The session includes your consultation, the session itself in the studio or on location, and your reveal. From there, most families choose wall art or an album designed for their home, with delivery and installation included.

I take forty commissions a year so that every family gets the whole of my attention, from the first conversation to the day the finished pieces are placed on your walls.

Holiday-card family photos in Westfield

A session by mid-October gives us time for your reveal and printing, so your holiday cards are ready before Thanksgiving. Late October still works for December mailing. It’s the same full portrait session; the card is simply the first thing you do with it.

What families say

“Luke photographed my daughter and me for family portraits and did a wonderful job. He was easy to work with, made us both comfortable, and picked a great spot for the session. The photos came back quickly and we still love them. If you’re in the Westfield or Indianapolis area and looking for a family photographer, I’d recommend LV Portrait Design.” — Chris K., Google review

“Luke made our whole family comfortable in front of the camera, including the teenagers, and he had a great eye for locations. He fit us in for family pictures in time for Christmas cards, and worked around our busy schedule.” — Joy A., Google review

Family photos in Westfield: questions

When should we book family photos in Westfield?

Six to eight weeks ahead is comfortable. For holiday cards, a session by mid-October has your cards ready before Thanksgiving. I take forty commissions a year, so fall evenings go first.

Can we use our home or backyard?

Yes. A backyard, a porch or family land often makes the most meaningful portraits, because those places already hold your family’s story. We decide together at the consultation, and there is no extra fee.

What if our kids won’t cooperate?

That’s my job, not yours. Sessions are guided and relaxed, with prompts, play and patience, and the in-between moments are often the portraits families love most. Teenagers included.

How much do family photos cost in Westfield?

Family sessions are $1,490 and include a $1,000 credit toward your portraits, plus your consultation and reveal. Most families then choose wall art or an album designed for their home, with delivery and installation included.

Do we have to come to Carmel?

Only for studio portraits. The studio is about fifteen minutes from downtown Westfield, and many families pair it with an outdoor location in Westfield.

Where are the best places for family photos in Westfield?

Grand Junction Plaza for water, the boardwalk and evening light; Asa Bales Park and Cool Creek Park for trails and trees; Grand Park for sports families; and your own home or property. We choose together at the consultation.

Do you photograph families outside Westfield?

Yes. I photograph families across the north side, including Carmel, Zionsville, Noblesville and Fishers. Have a senior at home? See senior pictures in Westfield.
